Authentic ancient coin, minted during the reign of Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC) in the Macedonian Kingdom (neighbor of Greece), this coin is a lifetime issue.
Made from silver, this coin is in superb condition (better than EF: about uncirculated AU).
The obverse depicts the Greek hero Herakles (Hercules) son of Zeus and half-brother of Perseus, wearing the skin of the Nemean lion. The reverse shows Zeus left, holding an eagle and scepter, monogram to left, ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to right.
AR Drachm, 17.2mm in diameter, weighing 4.22 grams.
Set in a minimalist 4-prong setting, made from solid 14k gold, with a polished surface. The bail will accommodate chains up to 4.3mm in diameter.
