This coin was minted under Philip II, King of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great, between 359-336 BC and is thus an ancient 2400 years old.
The coin shows a youth on a rearing horses back. The other side depicts the head of Apollon. This coin was minted to commemorate the great victories in the horse racing event of the ancient Olympics his kingdom had the great honor of participating in, alluded to by the youth on the horse.
Made from an ancient Bronze alloy, partially highlighted for better contrast and visibility of the depiction. Measuring approx.15mm in diameter.
Set in a rustic silver setting, 23.5mm (0.92 inches) in diameter with a chunky character and substantial weight. All sterling silver, hallmarked with .925.
