This particular coin is rare for it's exceptional large size and excellent condition.
Minted between 360-363 A.D. in Nicomedia, Asia Minor (present-day Turkey). Made from an ancient bronze alloy. Coin diameter is 27mm (1.06 inches).
The obverse depicts diademed, cuirassed bust of Julian II (Julian the Apostate), Roman Emperor 361-363 A.D. He was Rome's last pagan emperor and did his utmost to topple Christianism, at which he failed.
The reverse depicts a bull, a symbol of paganism, two stars (Gemini or Taurus) above, and reads "SECVRITAS REIPVB" on the outside.
