This particular coin was minted under Philip III (1578-1621), King of Spain. Minted in Potosi/ Bolivia, at that time a Spanish colony in South America. Coin weight is 24.40 grams. Coin diameter is 40mm (1.57 inch). Both the Habsburg shield on the obverse and the cross on the reverse are clearly recognizable, even after the coin being in the ocean for 400 years. This coin was sea salvaged by Mel Fisher in 1985 and comes with a copied Certificate of Authenticity issued by Mel Fisher as well as an Appraisal Certificate, issued by Mel Fisher's company in 1998.
The coin is set in a hand crafted setting, made from solid 18k gold. Bail opening is 7.5mm. Marked with 18k.
