The solitaire stone in this ring is an all natural, earth mined red garnet. Cut into a clean cabochon, 10mm in diameter. Safely set in a closed 14k yellow gold bezel setting. 

The underlying sterling silver ring band was gently hammered and is 8mm wide. Adorned by a solid 14k gold band on the outside that has a fine crosshatch. The gold will not wear off and stay just as gorgeous forever. Hallmarked with 925 and 14k.

In 2009, an extensive cache of Anglo-Saxon gold, the Staffordshire Hoard, was found to contain dozens of items paved with expertly polished and fitted garnet inlays. Although gem-quality garnet is native neither to the Vikings' original Scandinavian home nor to England, the Vikings used the stone extensively.~~
