This coin was minted in France under an uncertain Bishop in the 13th century. The obverse depicts a stylized angel with spread wings, resembling an eagle. The reverse shows a cross with globular ends.
The coin itself is made from an ancient silver alloy, about 18.5mm in diameter, weighing 1.04 grams, with the original patina. Extremely fine condition with a clear, detailed depiction on both sides. Safely held by a four prong setting, handmade from solid 14k yellow gold and polished to a nice shine. Bail opening is 4mm.

France was a major force during the Crusades 1095-1291. It is safe to assume that these coins were used in the Crusades.
