This coin was minted between 1272-1307 under King Edward I of England (also known as Edward Longshanks and Hammer of the Scots) in London. The obverse depicts the crowned bust of Edward I centered. Surrounded by + ЄDW R’ ANGL’ DNS HYB (Edward King of England Lord of Ireland).
The Reverse depicts a Long cross with pellets. Surrounded by the legend CIVI TAS LON DON (City of London).
It's value was that of a Denier or Silver Penny.
The coin itself is made from silver, about 18mm in diameter. Very fine coin condition with a crisp, detailed cross depiction on the reverse. Some wear on the obverse. Original dark patina.
The coin is safely held by a four prong setting, made from rectangular sterling silver with a matte surface. 4.5mm inside bail diameter.
